XP pro computers have a mapped drive to a Win 2003 Small Office server. These connection fails after about 15 minutes. I changed the user to the administrator group and the connection stays up. It must be a file permission problem, but where. User have rights to map the drive and security to read/write. Any ideas? Thanks glowe

Look at the security of the shares on the Win 2003 server. Check the permissions on the share tab and also check the permissions on the security tab. Remember that the most restrictive permissions wil always apply. By default, a new share always sets the permissions (to access the share), to read only. You may want to concentrate on this one.
am looking in support.microsoft.com for XP 'autodisconnect' mapped drive...there are plenty bugs in xp with mapped drives but don't see any symptoms that match. why would rights issue work ok for 15 minutes? to me, gotta be a disconnect then can't reconnect for some reason issue. since it works in another profile, maybe it is profile specific setting...like somekind of disconnect time...can you open firewall wide up on all to see if that affects problem..? is time synched on all ws's to server?
This is the default autodisconnect of windows XP to change edit the registry key: HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanManServer\parameters Autodisconnect made value data FFFFFFF
