Mapped drives show disconnected, but some working properly

I have a nasty problem with mapped drives. On most machines, they show as “disconnected”, but work properly. Some users they show up as disconnected, and when you try to open them, you get either “Network connection not found” (all list drives open to the same deptartmentel folder), or “local device in use”.
Net use shows no connections, and you can’t disconnected from cmd line or GUI (my computer)

The workstations are WXP, on a pair of W2K3 DCs. There are no scripts, the mapping were done at user level.
All machines are currently pacthed, except for 1 server, it’s only two weeks out of snyc. I did the search on M$, etc. with no real solutions.

I’m tossing it out for ideas…..

Update:
The whole issue is related Symantec Anti-Virus Corp Ed. v10.0.0.359. After uninstalling it, all the drives came back properly. Symantec says this is a problem with 10.1.x.x, but the is nothing I find for 10.0.x.x

I’m still looking for ideas before I replace Symantec.
