Mapping a Network Drive from Branch office

By imonroe ·
I am trying to map a drive to an image server in our network from the branch office. I have no problem mapping to our DOMAIN server that has an applications folder. When I select "tools" "map drive" select the drive letter and then choose the PC I want the drive from it won't display the drive. I am baffled. The branch office connect to our main office through a T1 line and has no direct internet access. Any help would be appreciated.

No Luck

I get an error message saying "The network path \\xxxxxxxx_xx\xx_x could not be found."
I tried this on my PC at the main office and it worked fine. Does this have anything to do with appling WINS?

WINS?

Domain environment or Workgroup? unless your running old operating systems, WINS shouldn't matter as DNS will answer queries for resources on the network.

network path not found indicates your trying to access a resource on a computer that appears to not be on the network.

verify that the computer account exists, is available on the network and that you have permission to access the resource.

ping

well you can ping by IP and not by Name

thats a DNS problem somewhere...

you mentioned NT unfortunatly this was before my time :) so maybe CG IT can help you with that.
