Master Browser in NT 4.0 server

By rteo30 ·
Network type : Ethernet and ATM
OS: Windows NT 4.0

Two PDCs: the original one (retired), promoted one of the two BDCs to PDC.

Before the old PDC retired, the PDC is able to get both Ethernet and ATM clients. The clients from the Ethernet is able to browse all the clients on both Ethernet and ATM from the network neighborhood.

After the old PDC retired, the new PDC ( has both Ethernet and ATM ) is the new Master Browser. Since then, the Ethernet clients won't be able to see the ATM clients from the network neighborhood. They only see the Ethernet clients only.

I uses both Browmon and Browstat from the resource kit to troubleshoot as well. Very little help.

Any suggestion is greatly appreciated!

Check your routes. At a command prompt type

route print

That will show you the networks you can get to. If the ATM network doesn't show up, add it. just type

for a list of options.
