We have an Ethernet LAN, but we have one small issue. Our LAN setup is as follows: internet router -> Ethernet switch -> Ethernet -> fiber converter -> fiber converter -> Ethernet hub -> Ethernet hub -> Ethernet switch -> workstation. All of the wiring is Cat 5 wire (excluding the fiber of course). The workstation in this question is having problems connecting. The wire from this workstation to the switch is approximately 75 feet in length. The problem is, this workstation cannot find the network on this cable. It did manage to find it’s workgroup on one occasion after many minutes of searching. We do know the workstation is in excellent condition, as we had it on a shorter run temporarily. Also, through proccess of elimination, we have determined the wire is the only problem. Our question: is this wire leading to the workstation too long in this application?
