MBR virus…I think

by it . Updated 25 years, 1 month ago

I have attempted to install a programme called “goback”(System reverter). When I reboot PC it makes a terrible HDD noise and tells me I have a Master boot record virus.I disabled all anti virus software and rebooted with floppy disk to command promptwhere I typed “FDISK /MBR”.I didnt notice anything special happen but on reboot I get this error message and cannot even see the C:\ in dos screen.
“Verifying DMI pool data.Starting Win98”
“Type name of the command interpreter (eg:C:\windows\command.com)”Then the next line is A:>.
If I attempt to type above i get nothing so try to type C:\+ enter. No joy so C:\dir.Still nothing except invalid directory.Any help appreciated.Cheers
