Mcafee GroupShield 4.5 blocks ALL Attach

    Locked

I’m running Mcafee GroupShield 4.5 on an
nt4.0 exchange 5.5 server. The app blocks ALL attachments and gives the following error messages in Event viewer:

    Alert Manager Event Log Alert:

The file Intel parts for repair.xls is infected with ‘_’. Detected with Scan Engine ‘_’ DAT version .0.(from BOSMAIL Serial# 00000672 000301c5 eadc3609 IP 10.10.2.30 user Administrator running GroupShield 4.5.572.128 OAS)

    And also…

Alert Manager could not send an alert message.
    Device type: “Network Message”
    Intended recipient: “\\BOSMAIL”
Message: “The file att.dat is infected with ‘_’. Detected with Scan Engine ‘_’ DAT version .0.(from BOSMAIL Serial# 00000672 000301c5 eadc3609 IP 10.10.2.30 user Administrator running GroupShield 4.5.572.128 OAS)”

I manually updated the DAT files as Mcafee
says to correct the problem. After running ok for a few hours the problem started again.

Has anyone else experienced this behavior?
If so how did you resolve? Please don’t tell me you switched to Norton because righrt now that is not an option…

    Thanks!

I’ve experienced this with GrouShield, First of all make sure that you have the latest DAT’s and engines, If in doubt download the superdat which has everything combined and install that.

The second thing to check is the attachment blocking list on the Exchange server.

Under the On-Access sheet tab is several options about what you wish to block, Select “Specified Attachments” and then click on “Select”, Check the list to make sure that you are NOT blocking anything you wish to allow intothe network.

If I can be of any assitance with this matter please drop me an email.

      Regards,
