    Mcafee or Norton, which is better for Windows XP

    My Dell Inspiron came loaded with Mcafee security only and Virus Scan. I cannot optimize or clean up errors, get updtes on critical downloads etc. I’m using Norton Utilities 2003 on my three Desktops and they work great at giving me so many options besides security.
    Would you replace the Mcafee(Only a 90 day free trial) with Norton?
    Any advise will be much appreciated.

      I have had back luck with Mcafee in the past and refuse to install or specify it for any computers I order/build. I will only use Symantec Anti-Virus products.

      I would say ditch Mcafee and install Norton.

      This is my opinion. You will probably get other responders that swear by Mcafee products or Anti-virus products by other vendors. Which ever way you end up going, if you go with a different vendor, make sure you thouroughly remove Mcafee first (this include making sure you clean the registry out also).

      If it’s not doing what you need it to do (which is probably the case or you wouldn’t have posted), why wait? Install a product that does EVERYTHING you need it to do.

        Thanks Tim, I’ve already uninstalled Mcafee and Installed my Norton 2003 Utilities. What a major difference as I found 158 Window Registry Errors while running my Norton.
        Now, I’m doming a Virus Scan and the project is completed.
