Does anyone know of a way to configure the autoupdate function in Mcafee 4.5 on workstations remotely? I am implementing a virusscan update plan and I don’t want to have to touch all 1200 nodes.

McAfee has a product called Epolicy Orchestrator that is management software for the clients. I use it to do automatic updates/upgrades, and to alert me when a virus is detected on a pc.

There is also an AV Management Console (downloadable from the registered part of the NAI Web Site) which can be used to do this, assuming that the machines can be “managed” by the console PC anyway.

We found that on Win 9x Workstations, Share type needed to be user level rather than share level, before we could administer the PC’s, so if you use this you might have to visit the PC’s anyway!
