I looked for but could not find anyone who posted this yet.
Evidently McAfee released an AV update early this morning that falsely detects svchost.exe as a virus. It then quarantines or deletes the file sending Windows into a world of hurt.
They don't know exactly how many machines are affected yet but if you read through some of the comments we're probably looking at least in the 100,000s of PCs brought down by the bad update.
The fix, at least right now, requires each machine to be touched by IT, in person, to replace/repair the bad update as well as the svchost.exe file.
There are conflicting reports as to if it actually affects home users..Mcafee says it does not but I think that may still be up for debate.
