MCSE Administrator VS. MAC Administrator

By warmiste ·
I am thinking about taking a Macintosh Administration job. I don't really know if this is a wise move since I am MCSE certified. The person interviewing me said I would not get the chance to use my MCSE except for maybe Networking Essentials. The position is really Desktop support that would lead into MAC Network Administrator. The only problem is the whole network is on MACINTOSH and no Windows machines! I am really anxious to want to take this job since I have been in Helpdesk for a year. I know it would be a added skill, but isn't it a little off the beat and path of what I should be doing???? and plus I think they have had this job posted for a while now. If anyone has any experience with this or has any comments on taking this type ofposition would be appreciated.

Mac users

I think the real issue is if you have the stamina to deal with Mac users every day. Gives me the creeps just thinking about it.

MCSE Administrator VS. MAC Administrator

You asked for comments, you got it. I'd consider a move like that career suicide. Sure, you'd be gaining MAC experience but losing value by the day in the effort you expended to get the MCSE! See for yourself: go to any job search site (headhunter, monster, etc.) and do a search for MAC. I understand that you want to get out of Helpdesk but I don't personally see this as a way to do it. Again, just my opinion.
