MCSE`s ????????

By cul8rm8e ·
OK! due m recent post i created a network bootdisk to connect to a share over the net to install win2k over the network.

what i need now is the command line to start the installation.

i have logged in with my username and password.
my share is on a server called (server) and my installation files are also shared ie: \\server\i386
i am at a command line username@mserver x:\NET>

Now! how do i start the installation of win2k?

appart from needing an idiots guide book,i REALLY need a command to start this install.

what shall i type after the x:\NET>

when i look under computer mnagement on the management on which im sharing the win2k files i can see that i am connected in sessions of the shared folder BUT with no files open! SO as i take it i have access to the share but i need the command to run from the client machine to start the installation.

i know i can use RIS from the server to install this but what if im in a simple workgroup or a domain with no RISand i dont have a copy of the win2k CD BUT i do have a share of the win2k files
on another machine then this is my only option!

help me out here guys, this is a solution to a Q on the server 70-215 exam BUT cant find much info if any on this!

Make sure the target machine has a FAT partition, not NTFS or the files cannot be copied. What is the error you are getting when starting the install?

The command to start the W2K setup from your command prompt is
WINNT

--Charlie

and if the I386 folder is a subfolder of the NET share, then you will have to enter
i386\WINNT
from your x:\net> prompt

The command to start the installation is WINNT as the previous answer mentioned.

make sure you're in the I386 folder.

You can also type WINNT /? to see all available options, such as unattended installation.
