MDM.EXE process

By stergios_nik ·

I have a PC 700 Mhz having installed the following software:

Internet Information Server 3, Exchange 5.5 SP3 (outlook web access installed), Office 2000 (full installation).

I recently begun developing programs using Active Server Pages. The problem is that when something goes wrong during ASP CODE execution the MDM.EXE process takes control and starts the debugger. The error dialog message says "If you want to debug the error. OK - CANCEL". Well, this causes another problem. The outlook web access stops responding until I press OK or CANCEL. If this happens at 03.00 in the morning then the outlook web access feature becomes useless because no body is present to press the cancel button.

Do you have any idea which software installed the MDM.EXE process? I suspect Office 2000. The solution that I apply right now is to kill the MDM.EXE process.

MDM.EXE process

MDM (Machine Debug Manager) can be installed by several programs. In your case it was probably Office 2000 or Windows NT Option Pack (IIS).

If you don't specifically use MDM it is usually safe to remove MDM. To be done correctly this also requires modifications in the registry so make sure you have a good backup before making any changes. You can find more informations and removal instructions on

Here are a couple of the articles I found (Be sure and type these w/o any spaces):

Hope this helps...WKCook
