I'm working on a proposal for an intranet within my company. I'm leaning towards using a Linux virtual server. Unfortunately, I'm unsure of what loads to expect. For my ROI, are there any tools I can use to estimate hardware requirements vs various load scenarios? Thanks.

You did not give enough info about what will this server do, how many users will be using it, what is the application requirements, which version of operating system is installed, all these plus much more info is needed to be able to SIZE your H/W requirements. The first thing to do it to know your environment and users, the u can use some techniques for measuring and sizing the server configuration, sure there r tools to help u in this but for certain application like Oracle, SAP, Exchange,... but first u have to make the needed data for input available to the tool. HOPE THIS HELPS.
Yes. Get in contact with the various hardware technical engineers form the companies you are considering. Explain what you are going to be doing. They will know best what configurations fo thier products will be able to serve you best.
If you're asking for technical help, please be sure to include all your system info, including operating system, model number, and any other specifics related to the problem. Also please exercise your best judgment when posting in the forums--revealing personal information such as your e-mail address, telephone number, and address is not recommended.
