Ugh...

by cmiller5400 In reply to MegaBust for MegaUpload: ...

Those AMG's add like 20+ grand to the base price....

Should be interesting on how this will play out. Definitely a precedent setter...

To me, I'd rather pay the 0.99 for the song or buy the dvd/bluray if I'm that interested in it...

Forgive the ignorance, but what's an 'AMG'? No text.

The letters "AMG" stand for Aufrecht, Melcher and Gro??aspach

They formed a company in 1967 that makes souped-up Mercedes, now it's part of Mercedes.

So when you see the AMG logo on the Mercedes, it typically means an extra 300 horsepower and an extra $50K on the price tag.

from Wikipedia:
The performance version of the E-Class, the E63 AMG is the first sedan built entirely by AMG. With a 518 hp (386 kW) engine, the E63 can achieve a top speed of around 200 mph (320 km/h) (electronic limiter off), and can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 4.3 seconds.

It costs around $90K plus tax, tag and title.

It's odd that a country would issue a license tag with "Police" on it

by robo_dev In reply to MegaBust for MegaUpload: ...

Since most people would assume, police officers included, that a car with the word 'Police' as the tag, is, in fact a police vehicle.

If nothing else, it would make for some humor on a traffic stop:

Officer: dispatch, 10-29, black mercedes G29 Police
Dispatch: yes, we're all police here, what is the tag number
Officer: the tag says 'Police'
Dispatch: Did you pull over a police car, officer?
Officer: No, the license plate tag, the tag number is police
Dispatch: can you spell that?
Officer: You think I cannot spell the word "police"??
Officer: Paul Oscar Linda Indigo Charlie Edgar, over.
Dispatch: So it's Police with an O on the end?
Officer: No, there is no O on the end of the word police. Please run the tag...

Not So

Given you can only have one vehicle with a given tag, I'd have assumed the tag Police would not be the Police. They (the Police) have more than one vehicle, so they would be unlikely to use "Police" and more likely to use something like "Police 000", etc.

You lost me.

How does this shopping list relate to the 'SOPA / PIPA' question in your discussion title?

Sorry, it really does not

If nothing else

he has excellent taste in motor vehicles.

I wouldn't mind having the money it takes to get a 63- or 65-series Mercedes...

Personally Nick

I would love to get my hands on a 300SLE which is even earlier at 1955. I currently have Cylinder Head Bolts for one but I very much doubt that SWMBO would tolerate me starting to build one from a few Bolts.

Actually getting a Merc of that Age is the easy part restoring it is another story. Though I have to admit that Mercedes Classic Parts in Germany have just about everything you would need but affording them is a different story.

Just a list of cars.

by CharlieSpencer In reply to If nothing else

At first glance I thought the post was one of those spams that lists all the cell phones the poster (claims to) sell.

They're just transportation.
