Does the BIOS memory test show 256MB?

If no, you need to check what memory is supported by your motherboard.

If yes, enter BIOS settings, and see if there is a setting for memory over 64MB or for OS/2 support.
You want to set the option for non-OS/2.

If the OS/2 option is enabled, your BIOS only reports the first 64MB of system RAM to the operating system.

1. Confirm maximum RAM usage per dimm slot for you motherboard.
2. If it is confirmed to handle 128mb RAM per slot, confirm which bios update for the motherboard allows for this.

This is pretty much what response one was but just wanted to confirm. Best of luck.

In some OS's like win98, using msconfig you can also limit the memory windows uses. goto start, run and type msconfig, then choose the adavanced button.
