Memory could not be read error . . HELP!

By rsp05 ·
Hello:
I am running Window 2000 Prof ws, and installed and using the uptime.exe utility.
When I run a script to execute uptime for multiple remote servers on the network, I will often get a pop-up Error:
--> The instruction at '<address>'referenced memory at '<address>'.
The memory could not be read.
Click OK to terminate the program. <--
I installed sp1 for Window 2000, but this did not fix the problem. Any ideas? TIA

I too am receiving the same error message on a Windows 2000 Server Domain Controller. This error is generated when random programs are opened.

I would greatly appreciate it if you could contact me if you resolve the problem or receive any helpfulinformation.

Thanks, and good luck.

Well, so far I tried the following:
1)Applied sp1 for W2k
2)switched the memory cards around
3) Reinstalled uptime (maybe a diff v?)

1 & 2 did not help. 3 so, far (jinx) has seemed to work. Although, I would like to keep this Q open...Thx

Hmmm. I tried the following steps:

(1) I uninstalled SP1 and then reinstalled it. This did not eliminate the error.

(2) I then swapped the memory cards as suggested by several forums and resources. This did not eliminate the error.

(3) I then uninstalled and reinstalled the the programs that trigger the error. This did not eliminate the error.

I AM A COMPLETE LOSS FOR SOLUTIONS. I thank you for your response and would greatly appreciate any further comments and/or suggestions.
