Are you receiving out of memory warnings?

You can clean up your PC to improve performance, many things are involved in gaining back lost performance. One of the 1st things you should do is eliminate programs that start when you boot up your PC.

If you simply want more memory, yes you'll need to purchase more, 512MB is good for general use but if you multitask 1GB would be better, but a lot depends on the PC & what your doing with it.

Usually when windows 2000 or XP is reporting low memory it is actually referring to the Page file. You can check the size and increase as necessary via the properties of my computer. Right click on my computer and choose properties use tabs to locate performance and verify your page file size It will have a recommended and current value information there. EX recommended 512 current 500 then use the manual value boxes to set to min 1024 max 2048 and see if low mem msgs go away.
