Memory Showing as 129 MB

This is just a program calculation error due to a slight technical misuse.

Some programs calculate the RAM by dividing it by 1,024 other just use straight decimal calculations.

Strictly speaking 1 MB of RAM is 1,024 kilobytes
once you start increasing levels you start to get a calculations creep between the actual number of kilobytes and what we refer to as 'n' RAM.

2 MB = 2,048 KB 4 MB = 4,096 KB
8 MB = 8,192 KB 16 MB = 16,384 KB
32 MB = 32,768 KB

roundedoff to the nearest 1,000 it matches but

64 MB = 65,536 KB 128 MB = 131,072 KB

Depending upon how the code for the calculation is written would give you a varying answer. If your BIOS does a memory check at boot up it should give you a reading in KBs.

If your system was doing a proper decimal check it should be giving a reading of 131 MB, unless something else is taking 2 MB out before the o/s.

Often you get a variance reading with an onboard sound or video card that is using part of the RAM, eg a 128MB RAM with a system set to 16 MB onboard video will give a WIndows RAM reading of 112 MB.

Suggest you check all your BIOS setting and what they are as well.

There is nothing wrong.
Every PC shows a different amount of RAM than the physical amount.
Ans. #1 covered some of the reasons, there are more.
Do you have an old 386 or 486 in storage ?
Get it out, and boot it.
This "miscount" has a long history.
Ignore it, as long as it is not way off, and the PC is not crashing regularly.
