Memory Stick Recovery Help

By niemannt ·
I have a Lexar Media memory stick that I use in my Sony Cybershot DSC-p100. After filling up the memory card (that I have used many times) - I went to download the pictures on my computer and got an error that it could not read the memory stick and it needs to be formatted. I did not format it and took it to a local photo shop to see if they could get the photos off the memory stick. They could not and now I can't even see the photos on my camera as I could before. Is there any hope of seeing these photos again - I know there is lots of software out there, but thought I would see if any of these worked before I spent the money on them. Thanks so much for any help - they are photos I really need! Thanks again -

One option

In the past, when that happened to me, I was lucky enough to be able to open the stick using a second computer. It sounds like the data has become corrupt. Strong magnets or static charges can sometimes effect the integrity of memory sticks/cards.

A friend of mine swears by this software (PhotoRescue) he used last month to retreive photos from his camera's memory card that had a similar issue.
They have a trial version so perhaps you can try it out to see if it'll work for you before paying the $30 to purchase.

and... here's a tutorial on how to use it:

Good Luck.

Please let me know if this works. - It's always good to have a safety net for when it happens to you.

Thank you so much for your help - it did not work in my other computer either - so I did a trial of PhotoRescue and it retrieved the majority of the photos, so I will buy that program. Thank you so much again for your help - you helped me saved many precious photos! Thanks again
