I upgraded my gateway T-6340U laptop to 4g, and it will not boot. It came loaded with 2gigs in one slot, the empty slot with identical memory ng. Tested new memory in both slots works. I could not find any info on this laptop from gateway or HSN on max upgrade size for RAM. Is it possible my max is not 4gigs? I will try 1 gig with the two? Any other ideas?

Sometimes some M'Boards will work with slower RAM when used in 1 Slot but when you double up on the same Spec RAM and fill every Slot the System Will not work or show any signs of Life. When this happens you need to change the Ram to Low Density and preferably use Faster RAM.
hi try - Crucial.com they list Gateway systems, (not T-6340U though...) Check BIOS sets speeds correctly If the sticks work in either slot then the RAM is good and you have to check compatibility with mobo/CPU, max RAM speed supported hth cheers
