Menu Delay in WinXP

By JustMe2007 ·
I just got windows XP and every time I right click on the desktop there is a five (or so) second delay before the usual menu appears. How can I get rid of this? The computer has 900 Mhz Celron processor and 384MB RAM.

Here is the registry settings, try changing the value data to 0 ms, this would hopefully work.
Key: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop]
Value Name: MenuShowDelay
Data Type: REG_SZ (String Value)
Value Data: 0-999 (milliseconds)

Tried it, didn't work. I have noticed that the CPU useage goes to 100% every time I right click. Is it possible to somehow have no special graphics for the right click menu? This might make it go faster. Thanks for the try. :)
