Merge messages from Outlook 2003 (POP) to Outlook Express (IMAP)

    Locked

    by sostermann ·

We have an employee who recently left and we need to move her Outlook messages to an existing system that uses OE and IMAP.

What is the best way to accomplish this?

    Many thanks for any help~

You should be able to simply open OE and import the mail from Outlook.

On the departed user’s machine, open Outlook Express.

Select File | Import | Messages.

Select “Microsoft Outlook” in the import window and click Next.

Choose the profile you wish to import and click Next. (If the profile is stored on a separate server, you may need to map an explicit drive to the server.)

Select the folders you wish to import and click Next. Then click Finish. The messages will be imported and saved in “C:\Documents and Settings\%userid%\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\%identity%\Microsoft\Outlook Express”.

You can now copy the message files, move them to the location you wish and import them to the existing OE.

Thanks for your reply. Since posting my question I have tried doing what you suggested. Because to account that I am wanting to import the messages into is IMAP, I get an error messaging stating some to the effect of “You can not import messages into an IMAP account”.

        Any other ideas?

        Thanks,

        Shawn~
