Merging Exchange Server

By Tech_Guy1 ·
We currently have one domain and will be aquiring another that needs to be merged into our current infrastructure. These are currently two physically separate domains. When bringing them together, I need to move the exchange accounts from one domain to the other or link these two servers up some how. The main thing is to have complete integration when it comes to play. integration means being able to see public folders, all contact names and addresses in the global address book, scheduling, etc.

What is the best option to do this?

1. Windows NT or 2000/2003?
2. Exchange 5.5 or 2000/2003?

You can do this in many ways assuming that you are Exchange 2000 and above.
For example, you could create the new accounts for users in your existing domain, and use tools such as EXMERGE to move the mail and public folder info over.
Or you could leave them as tehy are, route mail between them and use the INTERORG tool from microsoft to aid with the Public folders and Calendar info

Both servers are running exchange 2000 standard. We are planning an upgrade to 2003 1st quarter of 2005

Iknow this is a dated post, but was wondering what solution you came up with. I am now undergoing the same type of aquisition thing.
