MetaSecurity - Can it be rebuilt

By jasonr ·
Ive fallen subject to a typical MS bug...

Scenario:
IIS 4 IE 5.5 Exchange MS Proxy.

All worked fine.....made change in IIS all goes SPLAT

look at technet re error....Metasecurity dead please restore a backup of Metabase.bin if ya got else Reinstall everything even related to local internet.

You guessed it no backup of metabase due to me being a fool (first MS proxy site so never had to worry before)

i??ave done rebuilds of exchange from serious flatlines and know there are command line functions not documented.

Need to know if similar exist for proxy. not much info on MS proxy other than it's suicide on the net but the customer wont buy anything but MS....their loss i guess. I have a Linux box doing the job at the momentso i have a few days before i need to fix it but any help would be taken on board

MetaSecurity - Can it be rebuilt

by Paul D. Masley In reply to MetaSecurity - Can it be ...

If you do not have a backup of the .bin, sorry. You did not state if there was a pdc or a bdc on this system. If so, check and see if it has a copy of the .bin that you need. If you are lucky, you may find it on the pdc. Good luck!
