Methods for mounting partitions in Windows 2000/XP/2003/7/2008

In regards to the “miss” on the windows 7 report card article http://blogs.techrepublic.com.com/hiner?p=3114 about the O/S install automatically provisioning a separate partition for data. I’m in agreement with the author, linux distributions have been doing this for a while.

There was much confusion in the comments in regards to what was meant by “partitioning” quite a few people were equating partitioning to mean additional drive letters on the system which is not necessarily true.

I think this would be a great tech tip article? ie: mount to a folder instead of assigning a drive letter. It’d be a short article… I couldn’t find an article on tech republic, but I’m certain it’s been posted as a tip somewhere at some point.
