I currently am on a client site managing a highly complex project (i.e. starting up a scientific company from scratch on the IT side). My direct boss, who’s 4 states away, and would be out of his depth in a car park puddle IT-wise, and reviews everyrecommendation I make, every action I take, etc. with every tech back in the office. I’m being completely micro-managed, the project is slowing down to a crawl, and the client is starting to get frustrated. Now, luckily, they know the remote boss isthe problem, but they’re tied to using this consulting firm via a legal contract. They’ve begged me not to quit, and they’ve started their processes to hire me post-project (in 3 months). My question is, does anyone have any suggestions for how to deal with my boss in the interim?
(Long term, I’m looking to complete the project and then move on, either to this firm or to another consulting company.)
