MICRON VS DELL

By tommymcbrayer ·
Currently we are an all Dell shop. All Dell servers and about 250 Dell desktops. I have been approached by MICRON and of course they want our business and the desktop quote that I received was $100 cheaper than the Dell. My question is has anyonebeen dealing with MICRON and what has your experience been? I am happy with Dell but does the cheaper price constitue a switch in vendors?

Take a look at PC World's Annual Survey of customer statisfaction:

(remove any embedded spaces in the URL)

There is more to any PC purchase than just price. The larger the potential purchase, the more you owe it to yourself to look at all the factors: price, quality of product, quality of customer service/customer support, etc.

One caveat that I have for you, is to check what Micron's current business plan is.

They have popped in and out of several markets over the last few years.
So, the question is how committed are they to you as a customer?

Pay Peanuts and you get Monkeys!

This is the Mantra I bear in mind when I am about to make a purchase. Micron has been around, so has Dell. Micron is shakey at best, they are not reliable and they offer very poor customer service. You would bepaying $100 less for a clone that is actually worth far less. I have delt with Micron in the past and I stress the word PAST! The question you need to ask yourself is this: "Am I willing to skimp by $100 and get markedly less customer service?" If you answer yes then I would say go for it. But I am going to tell you this you will get NO service from MICRON in about 1 1/2 to 2 years. I am by no means a Dell Man, but I will say you are already in a better boat then you would be if you jumpedship to MICRON.
