To condense an otherwise long problem, I bought a Vista Home Basic PC with Microsoft Works 8.5 already installed. I wrote a novel on an RW-disc and, via Works, stored it in my documents file. Later, I had to reset PC to factory due to clutter, etc. When I had done so, the novel I had stored in documents not only changed letter format on its own, but the page numbers are messed up (they appear at the bottoms of each page!). Can someone help me to get the original format back? NOTE: ‘Formatting options’ in Word do not help.
