Ok, The message I’m getting is “Couldn’t use M:\Access\workdir\system.mdw, file is in exclusive use”. I guessed it’s a rights issue. So I checked the NTFS rights according to our proprietary documentation and all settings are correct. Then I compared the NTFS settings from other sites that have the exact same installation procedure, and guess what? Nothing different. I am stumped on this one. All Access gurus, I need your advice on this one

This usually indicates that the file is open by someone else.
Is the database being accessed by an OBDC driver? If so, check to see if it is checked for exclusive use by:
In control panel.. double click on ODBC data sources, then double click on the System Data Source name that is using this database.
Click on the Options button, and check to see if Exclusive is checked.

      Good Luck

Looks like you’re using a system.mdw file that is on a network drive. Usually, this would indicate that you are accessing a database that has security settings that control who can access the database at what level. If there are some security settings in the database itself that allow (or require) someone to open the database with exclusive rights, then this might be the cause of this error message. Have you checked to see if someone else possibly has the database open at the same time? Also, have you checked with the person who originally created this database to see if there are some such security settings within the database? Hope this helps!

This database does not allow anyone to open it with exclusive rights. Thanks for your input.
