Microsoft Client for Netware - Bind to T

By JerryD ·
We're considering changing from Microsoft's Client for NetWare to Novell's Client32, but there are a lot of issues involved. The only thing MS's client does not give us at is the ability to connect to a NetWare 5 server (with IP) using only IP.
One of the possible alternatives to going to Client32 is to use NT's Gateway Services for Netware, but a more elegant solution might be to be able to bind Microsoft's NetWare client to IP. I'm aware that Microsoft has sworn that they will not support this, but is anyone aware of any third party addins that would give this ability?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Jerry

Jerry , the only way to connect to a NW5 server running pure IP , not ip tunneling , is to use the newer client 32 . The latest is 3.2 and is ver stable as was 3.1 with sp2 . Why would you want to use the MS client when the NW client works so well ?

Sorry for the unacceptable rating - at least you answered the question, but it didn't really help. I don't like Novell's overbloated, memory hog, over done client. It like a committee of 20 people all added their two cents to options - why do I need to dig five levels deep just to change from an NDS to Bindery log in? I also find it increadably unstable. I'm looking for an alternate IP connection to Netware - e.g. NT Gateway for Netware - only on the client side. Thanks for your help.

Only Novell has created a client that will allow this. Also Novell's new web-portal service will allow file access through a browser, no client needed.

THANK YOU! I was not aware of the web-portal service, and don't know why I didn't see this sooner! Thanks.

Jerry;
I believe that NW client 32 works very well for IP Netware server, so you are choosing a good choice.
Tho.
