I work for AT&T Broadband, and we get a lot of customer’s with the win9X series getting winsock errors. Customers can ping ip’s but not urls and nothing in the browser. This is a text book case of winsock. Yet MS states that it is not a winsock error since they can do a loop back ping which any self respecting IT pro can state will always work with TCP/IP installed. Instead they pawn it off after scamming the client out of money stating that this is an issue with AT&T. This definitely sounds like an issue with the OS which is Microsnore and not AT&T. I would like to know if anyone else has had issues with MS dropping and pawning off clients who pay $35 just to get a live person. I apologize if I sound rude, but this sort of service should be free if you are only going to pass the buck.
