    Microsoft Educational licensing prices

    Locked

    by skdtech ·

I am working on a report for a class I am taking and I am having difficulty locating any kind of guide to what rates MS charges educational institutions to license Windows and Office (Word/Excel/Powerpoint).

If there is anyone with experience in the sales or purchase of MS products for schools I would appreciate the assistance.

        Thank you.

I tried to find information on their site but they just keep referring to resellers to get a quote. I don’t want to waste a salespersons time when all I need is an idea of what the costs are for a paper that will be forgotten by all involved as soon as the semester is complete.

      Retailer

Contact a volume retailer. The markdowns are significant and complicated. We pay about $75 for Office 2010 pro on a campus agreement. The price will change based on the type of agreement and the size of the institution. If I remember Windows 7 pro is about $100 per copy. MS licensing can get complicated in a real hurry.

That seems like the information I am looking for. I don’t need hard numbers just an estimate I can use for a baseline cost projection. The numbers are only needed to support an argument I am making in a paper rather than a serious inquiry.

        Thank you

Obviously these won’t be the lowest prices available especially to large organisations, but it probably gives you an indication of what can be achieved even at small quantities.
