Microsoft entourage: your email will expire in x days

By ginno04 ·
Hi everyone,

I am getting errors from users using Mac trhat their email adresses will expire in x days and it is counting down. The Mac users are using entourage to get their emails from the exchange 2003 server.

I need your help! My boss is left with 4 days!

Thanks,
Serge

Are you sure it is not the passwords that are expiring?.

"your email will expire in x days"??.
This does not make sense, but it could make sense if it is related to the passwords and you have a server that is counting down. Usually this is because the passwords need changing every 30 days (depending on your set up).
I should not worry too much on this because when the time comes you just put in a new password (twice) and the server will log this into its database for another 30 days (depending on the set up).

Entourage also checks for Windows domain (where your Exchange server resides) password expiration on every launch or every 24 hours afterwards to see if user's password is going to expire in the next 10 days or not. It does that thru an LDAP query to your Windows 'Domain Controller' or 'Global Catalog Server' configured in Exchange account settings (under 'Advanced' tab). This communication happens over port 389 (without SSL) or 636 (with SSL).
