Microsoft Excel 97/XP?

My customer is using Excel ’97 and has a template with formula setup for his accounting needs. He wishes to upgrade to Office XP on a new system.
Can the Excel template be imported and function perfectly in Excel 2002 (XP) or may there be problemsassociated with it.
