Microsoft Exchange Email Address

Hello:
I have a domain created xxx.domain.com and our old domain was domain.com. I just built our exchange server on the xxx.domain.com. Is there a way I can get the system to just have domain.com email addresses? Do I need to create a trust with a new domain? or Can I do something with the DNS?
Please help.
