We are running our Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 on windows NT Server 4.0 as a PDC. We wanted to test our back ups and tried to restore the Microsoft Exchange Server.
Exercise Done:
We Installed Windows NT Server 4.0 as a PDC and with the samecomputer name and the domain name as that of the original server. Then we installed the Exchange Server 5.5 and that too with the same configuration, i.e., the same site and Organization Name. Everything went on smoothly. Now we stopped the Microsoft Exchange Information Store Service, Microsoft Exchange Event Service, and Microsoft Exchange MTA Service.
Now We restored the Priv.edb and Pub.edb ONLY and run isinteg -patch utility and it gave the message that the Information store was restored sucessfully.
Now as we tried to start the services, Microsoft Exchange Information Store Service, Microsoft Exchange Event Service, and Microsoft Exchange MTA Service we get an Service Specific Error 1276.
But when we remove this restored database and again copy the database which the Exchange Server had created during installation, all the services are started immediately, without any error.
