Hi All, I have been banging my head against a wall regarding this for weeks.
I desparately need some help from and expert!!
I have an Exchange 2003 server that sits on a Windows 2003 Server with a DC Name layout of hostfarm1.domain.local
Every time i try to connect an Outlook 2003 client(that does not sit in the Lan) the server name is automatically changed to hostfarm1.domain.local.
whether I use IP address or hostfarm1.domain.net the exchange server name is automatically changed back to hostfarm1.domain.local
this causes no end of problems as the .local is not resolvable from the WAN.
How do I stop the exchange server name in outlook 2003, from changing to a .local ????
Do i need to cahnge the DC Name in windows to resolve this??
I know that i could add the .local to the host file and it will get round the problem, however not all the users will have permissions to change the host file
thanks in advance for all your help
