Whenever I open Explorer, all views are in "tile" format. I want the default to be "Details".
Is this possible?

To make 'Details' the default for all folders do the following.

by Ron K. In reply to Microsoft Explorer - View

Open Windows Explorer.
Pick any folder that shows files in the right-hand pane and choose to View | Details.
Go to Tools|Folder options on the menubar.
Go to the View tab.
Select 'Apply to all folders' in the Folder views section.
That's it. The next time you open a folder you should see the files arranged by details.

Fair warning.

It doesn't hold in Vista. If you're using Vista, ask for registry setting that needs to be tweaked.

Drove me nuts until I did... Can't remember it for the life of me.

I've got a thread around here somewhere in which folks gave me the exact keys to mess with. I'll try to find it.
