Microsoft Networking

I have a couple of win98 computers in a LAN. They each receiving separate IP addresses to access the internet via my cable modem provider. Internet access is fine, but the two computers cannot “see” each other in network neighborhood.

The only protocol I have installed is TPC/IP. They are both in the same workgroup, on the same hub, and file and printer sharing is enabled on both. I would think this would be enough…but it does not seem to be. Do I need to run netbeui in order to “see”each other in network neighborhood. I am a bit confused with what is needed to “see” another computer under the network neighborhood. I would rather not use netbeui if I don’t have to, as I am aware there are security flaws. Any help to explain how this all works would be appreciated.
