I have spent THE most fustrating 2 days installing Office XP Prof. Only to uninstall and relegate to the bookshelf to collect dust.
My problem is, and I will try to be brief and objective, while not give vent to my personal feelings(which are running high at the moment).
I have a PC running windows NT and acting as my server, with 1 workstation attached running windows 98. I have a logon and each of my family members have their personal logon.
I installed Office XP Prof. onto the workstation(SINGULAR) using my logon, everything worked fine, I logged onto Microsoft and activated, no problem. I then copied the Office XP icons to the other profiles.
Needless to say and to cut a long, frustrating and irritating story short, none of the other 3 profiles could run any of the Office XP apps.
It came up with the message “unknown user, Please run setup”.
After 4 hours of battling to get it to work on the other logons I gave up UNINSTALLED an went back to Office 97.
If this is Microsoft’s new Licence and activation statergy, they have just made me very angry and frustrated in that I cannot run Office XP on the insatalled workstation (SINGULAR) using various logons.
Microsoft to my mind have restricted the use of Office XP to the person who has installed the application and not to the workstation. Everyone using Office XP have to log on using my logon and password, out the door goes my SECURITRY!!!!!!!!
Has anyone had a similar experience, has anyone a solution to me problem?
I would appreciate any feedback.
Thanks for a hearing ear, I at least feel a little bit better now.
