MICROSOFT OUTLOOK AND WORD DELETE BUTTON

    Locked

    by gwh123 ·

For some reason the delete button in Outlook and Word no longer works…if I highlight text, click delete, nothing happens…I have to use the backspace key to get rid of it.

I don’t have a clue on why or how this happened…any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

      Delete Yes/No?

Next time you’re trying to delete something, look in the grey bar at the bottom of the page. If you see Delete Yes/No, you have to do the following:
      In Word:

Select Tools on the main menu
Select Options from the drop down
      Select the General Tab

There are two check boxes towards the bottom that mention WordPerfect – make sure those are UNCHECKED.

      Click on OK

I’m assuming you’re using Word as your email editor which is why it is happening in Outlook as well.

Delete key not working on highlighted text

GoJints tip helps, if you are getting the little “confirm delete” text in the lower-left corner of Word when you try to delete highlighted text.

For me, I found that the problem was elsewhere in the options menu.

        Navigate to: Tools-> Options->
        and select the “Edit” tab.
Then, turn ON the toggle for “typing replaces selection”. After that, you will find that, either, typing or pressing the delete key will replace highlighted text!

Thanks for the suggestion — I wouldn’t have guessed that that was the issue. Funny, I wonder what changed my settings all of a sudden? I certainly don’t remember changing that….
