Microsoft Outlook – lost email

I need to help one of my friends with a problem in MS Office 2003. She uses it on a laptop at home and dropped email from her inbox onto the personal folders icon above the inbox. She now cannot find the eamil she was attempting to move. I have sincce helped er set up folders to manage her email but wonder where these missing files are and if we can retrieve them.
