Microsoft Software Update Services (SUS)

By Bhrdwh ·
Hi, We have NT 4.0 domain setup & face problems of installing & patching up all client systems (Win9x, 2K, 2003, XP) so we installed Microsoft's Software Update Services system on a Windows 2000 Server.
Now I downloaded all patches on the SUS & approved them as well.
How do I get them to be installed on client systems ? The SUS Client does not get installed on Win 2000 Pro SP3 & above systems.
Anyone worked on SUS ??
Please get back & email me at akasheep_b@yahoo.com

The best way to get it installed on the client machines is to do it through login scripts (since you're in NT) or through a group policy.

see this for better information:

One thing to keep in mind is SUS will only work with Windows 2000 SP3 and Windows XP SP1 or better.

You will need to use a script to make registry changes on all the 2K/XP clients that you want to update with SUS, since you're not running Active Directory (where you could use a GPO to set it).

I have a script (it a .vbs script) that sets up clients, if you're interested, email me and I can send it to you.
