Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express – Multiple databases?

by cburnham . Updated 18 years, 7 months ago

I am an SQL newbie. Here is the pertinent information for this question:

— My Windows 2000 Server has SQL Server 2005 Express (the freebie) on it.

— My server’s hardware is dual Xeon 2.8 processors and 4 GB of RAM.

–I have clinical server-based software that is being upgraded to be SQL-based.

–There will be six separate instances of this software that will be accessed. For example, I have several clinics and each will access its own installation (there is not one giant database that they all access – six separate databases).

–The six databases total about 900 MB.

–Four of these databases will be accessed remotely via Terminal Services.

Question: Can SQL Express handle six databases and can I set it up this way?

Any guidance you SQL experts can give me will be much appreciated.
