Microsoft support Windows 2k platform

By wmsonj ·
Someone told me that they read somewhere, that Microsoft will not support Windows 2k after March. And that windows XP professional will a server. My Questions are:
Will Microsoft's Windows XP Professional become a server as well as a workstation ? and Will Microsoft continue to support Windows 2000 Platform? ....

Microsoft support Windows 2k platform

by Matt Duggan In reply to Microsoft support Windo ...

Obviously I don't speak for Microsoft, however...

WinXP Pro is likely to be considered a workstation for support purposes, but I would not be surprised if it's supported at a higher cost than XP Home.

Win2k will definitely fall out of support in the same way that NT4 has started to - give it a year, and you won't see another Win2k service pack.

Every operating system has a life-span - Microsoft reduce support for an OS about 1.5 years after it has been superceeded. About 1 year later, they abandon it completely (from past situations, anyhow).
