Have you checked the view options?
It may be accidentally closed.
In the view options --> select the menu choice.

You are probably in full screen view. Hit the escape key to return to normal view. Even though the menu and toolbars are not there, the schortcut keys should still work. To see View hit Alt+V. Click the Full Screen entry to return to normal.
There is an article if this does not work. Type the following in the address box of Internet Explorer:

MSKB Q242368

Sometimes, if nothing else works, you can restore your system by renaming any "Normal.dot" files you might have.
You could also startword at the command line with:
winword.exe /a
My bet is that it's just a full screen view.

Hit Alt+V. Even if you can't see the menu, that will bring up the View menu.
If that does not restore your menu and toolbars, rename or delete your Normal.dot.
Re-start Word.

I ran into this problem a few days ago. You need to reset the setting in Word. Check Microsoft knowledge base for Article Q242368.

Hope this helps.
