microsoft word memory arrors

by jetwilliams99 . Updated 24 years, 8 months ago

on a dell laptop there is 128 MB of RAM, celeron 600 and 3.5 GB of free space, running Win 98. All programs can open and have multiple browsers open at the same time. Opening Large PDF files is not a problem either. As soon as I open a word doc (even the word program itself) the splash for word pops up and hangs there. hit Ctrl+Alt+Del and a low resources error pops up, hit Ctrl+Alt+Del again and get dangerously low resources mesage please close a program, hit Ctrl+Alt+Del again and keep getting same error messages. power off , power back on again, runs fine. hit word doc again, and it starts all over again.

I “reapired word” and that same thing, I de install word, reboot reinstall word, same thing. I reload windows over currentwindows, same thing. I dont feel it is a memory error, unless word resides in particular memory addresses and bringing up word reveals the bad modules.

Any thoughts out there, has anybody seen this?

John
