Microsoft XPS Document Writer Reverts as a Default Printer

by ndumbalo . Updated 16 years, 5 months ago

Are you tired being annoyed by Microsoft XPS Document Writer reverts to a default printer every time you login in to your PC? This behavior is mostly seen on Vista.

Vista sets up the default printer by sorting the printer names in descending order, if your printer name start with letter N to Z then you should be fine. To work around in order to resolve the issue, i.e. setting the different default printer other than Microsoft XPS Document, rename your printer name by, let?s say adding letter Z in front of the name.

E.g. Rename ?HP Color LaserJet 4650 PCL 5? to ? Z HP Color LaserJet 4650 PCL 5?

Good luck.
