Microsoft's Backup/Restore

By abcs ·
I have a client who is using Microsoft Backoffcie Small Business Server v4.5. They do a backup each evening. Now they need to restore a few files, but are unable to because there does not appear to be a catalog on the tape. I have run the catalogoption and it did not find any catalog entries. So the Question - Is there a way to to get the tape to read its self and create a new catalog. Remember they are using the built in Microsoft Backup option.

TIA for any suggestions.

Not sure if NT backoffice is exactly the same, but I use the ms backup from 98se and I save the original configuration. This way I can go to the restore and choose what files I want to restore, not just the entire backup. Hope this gives you some idea.

Start Backup and go to TOOLS/MEDIA/IDENTIFY. That will read the backup set on your cartridge. Then you can chose which files to restore.

I am running NT40 when ever I need to restore files I open backup and go to the tape. Then double click the backup set, after a while it comes up with a catalog. You have to keep doing this until you see the files that you want to restore. Selectthem and then click restorw.
